What this is
The Car Thing was a small dashboard device with a 4 inch screen, a big dial and four preset buttons. After it was discontinued, the community opened it up. Job Thing replaces its software with a job board built for how testers actually search: presets that know QA, SDET and test infrastructure roles apart from the jobs that only share the words, location groups that make sense of free-text job locations, and postings formatted for a tiny screen.

About this demo
- This is the same software the device runs. Only the server is swapped for a snapshot.
- Jobs come from public company job boards and link to each company's own posting, ranked by how well they fit a QA / SDET profile, or newest first.
- Each card shows how and where the work happens, the posted pay, the tools the job names (Playwright, Python...) and how new the posting is. A green star marks a strong match.
- On the device, saved jobs can be opened on your computer or prepared with Claude: it tailors the resume and fills the application, and you press Submit. The demo shows the screens only.
- Your presets and saved jobs stay in this browser. In Saved, export them as a checklist PDF to track your applications.
